Last Woodward Post of 2014

😖The girls have started to pack, and are ready for reality to start in again.  There is something other-worldly about existing at camp Woodward for a week.  Coming back down to normal is an adjustment, not just for the girls, but for me as well.  Most of these girls trained 35 hours of gymnastics this week, that's just crazy, and yet they love it!  Next week they will be exhausted, completely.

Well the last open gym is over, and the girls don't want to leave.   Kalyna is emotional, I'm emotional, the girls are off the hook, tonight is going to be crazy!

Stay tuned next week for videos and additions.  From Camp Woodward, PA signing out for the last time,

Stay ever calm and keep flipping on!

Flashback Friday

Where has the time gone??? As I am flashing back to the beginning of the week and indeed to my first Camp Wooodward experience four years ago, I am struck by how much the girls have grown.  Our younger girls, and first time campers Ella, Grace 1 and 2, Kristen, Adia, Hope, Rania, and Angelica, and Jaida own this camp.  They know it like the back of their hands.  They are confident and self assured!  My older girls, and forgive me as I wax nostalgic, my older girls are young women.  When I first started four years ago, they were, for the most part eight years old, Bianca was 11... Now they are 12, 13 and 15.  Four years of watching them grow.  Cailyn who was our youngest provincial team member last year came to Woodward last year without her kip, by the end of the week she had it, now a scant 365 days later this girl is doing giants.  I can't wait to post the videos of her side by side!   It's a bittersweet ending to a fabulous week.  I'm going to miss these weeks of being cabin mama. I am going to miss these girls!!

Team Thursday

It's a hot humid day in PA today.  Last night was even hotter as Hailey dominated the dance floor and came in 2nd place in the dance off contest.   The girls all agree that she was cheated out of first place again.  I managed to get her dances on video this year so look for it on the blog next week. Grace Ella and Hope made it to the semi finals in the mini dance off, as their older team mates cheered them on.

The Gym Magic team had their pizza party today.  The girls had their pictures taken for next years brochure, and they were also given a sassy Team Woodward tshirt with the gym magic logo on it.

You'll be happy to know what enterprising young women you have.  The girls have started a cabin 3b massage clinic.  For Candy or at a bargain price of 10 cents a minute you can have your aches and pains soothed away.  Kayla is the booking manager and is diligently writing down appointment times in her trusty little book!

Kayla, Kalyna, Cosie and Steph will head to the tap party tonight, and later the mini girls of Cabin 1B will be entertaining us at the WW talent show!

More to come later.
Stay calm and flip on

Aches and pains and rips... Oh my!

The close of midweek brings with it some trials and tribulations.  Aches and pains aplenty but the girls are still smiling through it all.  The girls were given the night off, so of course most of them chose to train... Seriously.  Hope, Ella and Grace chose to go ziplining, and I managed to snap a few pictures until the Mosquitos chased me away.  It rained in the afternoon then cleared up around 4pm.

Woodward Wednesday

Not to much to post yet today, it's a dismal slow day here. The girls needed to be woken up today, and were quick to sleep last night.  No hot water in our cabin, so the girls need to trek down to the pool showers.  Julia, Cosie and Katherine rolled in early this morning after sleeping in a teepee with bugs and six other girls.  They had a camp fire, roasted hotdogs, hamburgers and had like five s'mores each.  I think they had a good time, though they were not impressed with the counsellors they had.

Kalyna met Damien Walters.  She was thrilled that he personalized her autograph.  I'm surprised more girls didn't want to meet him.  Hailey is gearing up for the dance off tonight!  My money is on her to win this year!

Tuesday plus!

Lots of video taken today.  Darn wifi doesn't let me upload.  Anyway, the older girls conquered the ropes course today and it was the last tumbling demo of the 2014 Woodward year.  Hello Damien Walters triple back in to a pit.  Wow!  The girls were awestruck and tomorrow they get to meet him!

The rain has held off which is great news for Katherine Cosie and Julia, as they embark on there overnight horseback excursion.  The girls are tired, and happy.  The candy consumption has slowed down, and they are starting to feel right at home here at camp.

Day two

Twin Tuesday got off to a great start, we even had a pair of Siamese Hair twins!  While the older girls were in mandatory, the younger girls and our fearless coach Brittney, conquered the ropes course!!  It's a humid day here, a bit overcast but we are hoping the rain holds off until tomorrow at least.

And I know you are NOT going to believe this, but the girls ran today, of their own volition, with no coaches!

More later,

Stay calm and flip on!
