Throwback Thursday and the border

Cosie and Steph ready to conquer the Ropes Course (Year 2)

I don't know about you guys, but this house is counting down the days until lift off.  Not much longer now.  Woodward boasts lots of amazing activities, one of the past favourites of the girls has been the ropes course and zipline.   Every year the girls come together as a cabin, and a team to conquer the course.  At Woodward, they encourage cabin and team bonding, so we book the ropes course for an afternoon of Gym Magic Fun.  This year, I think the coaches should do it!  What do you think girls?  It's the ultimate bonding experience and amazing to watch.  Everyone of the girls so far has completed the course, and done the zipline.  Let me tell you, because I've done it, twice, it's not easy.  The strength and encouragement they give eachother is amazing, not just within the Gym Magic team, but with others on the course.  One year our girls helped out a fellow cabin member from another gym overcome her panic midcourse, with words of encouragement, and advice, our littlest member of cabin 1A finished out the course, and even conquered the zipline.  It was inspiring to watch.    Remember to pack running shoes and socks... you cannot do the zipline without them!

IMPORTANT REMINDER:

If you are traveling solo without the other parent of your child, or if your daughter is traveling either to or from camp with another family, you WILL need to provide documention stating that you give permission for your child to leave the country in the company of whoever they are travelling with.  This is regardless of marital status.   A fact I found out the hard way when traveling without my husband with my son back in 2009 :(.

More information can be found here at the Canadian Government website, as well as a printable pdf copy of the letter you can use.  I've never had to use the letter, but all it takes is one customs officer to ruin the week before it's begun. Better to be prepared!

That's all for today folks!
Til next time,
Stay Calm and Flip on.

Heather!

Proof that even this old bird can conquer the ropes!
